HD Powertools
Q. What are alpha channels?
A. All video (regardless of format) is made up of 3 color channels: red, green, and blue (RGB). When these channels of color are combined they form a full-color image frame.
An alpha channel (RGB+A) carries additional information that represents areas of the frame that contain transparency. The alpha channel information enables you to composite the frame information into other media such as video or background files.
Alpha channels can also be used to apply special effects.
Q. Why do all the files with alpha channels have black backgrounds?
A. The black background represents the areas of the frame that are completely transparent. When you import these files into your compositing software with the alpha channel option included the black areas will disappear and your background art will show through.
Q. What software programs are compatible with Motionstream's files?
A. Motionstream's content can be used with any program that supports the QuickTime file format, such as Apple's Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, and After Effects.
Q. Are you planning on releasing more HD Powertools titles for digital signage?
A. Yes. Several titles are currently in development and will be released in the near future as they are completed.
Custom and Semi-Custom Design
Q. Do you accept commissions for custom digital signage content?
A. Yes, we are very interested in working directly with clients who need custom content for their digital signage systems. More information is available in the Custom Content section.
Q. What kind of services do you provide?
A. Motionstream is experienced at concept development, motion graphic design, and 3D animation. We can develop content from scratch or modify and adapt existing content for digital signage systems.
Q. Why should we partner with Motionstream for our digital signage projects?
A. We offer a strategic advantage over other content developers with our exclusive content libraries that enable us to create strong graphic-based animations with greater efficiency.
Q. How long does it take to develop custom content?
A. It depends on your needs. Every project is different and has to be evaluated to determine the best direction from a creative and cost standpoint. Just download our Request for Estimate Form, supply as much information as possible, and Motionstream will provide you an estimate and timeline.
Q. Do you work with companies on an ongoing basis to provide content updates?
A. Yes. We can work with you to supply content updates on an as-needed basis or if you need updates on a regular schedule, we can be retained on a monthly basis.
Q. Do I own the copyright for work Motionstream creates for me?
A. Yes. Once we receive payment in full, the copyright for all custom works created for you by Motionstream is then transferred to your ownership.
Q. What if I don't like the work you have created for me?
(It seldom happens)
A. Motionstream's process involves your approval at each stage of development. There are no surprises when we deliver the final product to you. Depending on your needs we will supply you with PDF storyboards, wireframe motion previews, and still images for your approval before going into final production on your project.
Q. Can I make revisions to the project you are creating for me?
A. Yes, revisions are fine as long as they are within the scope of the original project plan. If your revisions are outside of the original project plan then we need to discuss the level of changes you require and work within your budget. We want to make you happy and we want to work with you on your next project.
Q. Can you provide technical support for our signage equipment?
A. No. We are strictly a content company. We can work with your installer or provider to deliver content in at any specification that you might require, but we don't install or service digital signage equipment.
Q. Do you do audio work?
A. No. We can include an audio track, such as stock music background, and even time an animation to match your supplied audio files, but we don't create audio files from scratch.
Partnerships
Q. Do you partner with digital signage providers and installers?
